Why Placemaking Is the New Catalyst for Growth
The way communities seek to grow has undergone a major shift. In the past, attracting businesses was job one. Now the old incentive model no longer works. Smart communities follow this bedrock principle: capital follows talent, and talent follows place. Rather than touting themselves as “shovel ready”, they focus on placemaking. They do everything possible to make sure their community attracts talent and fosters entrepreneurial opportunity. When people want live, work, and play in a community, new companies will follow, which in turn attracts more talent. This is how vibrant communities happen: organically.

In this panel discussion you’ll hear insights and learn best practices from placemaking experts and others who have embrace the new economic development model:

Cultivating Communities Incrementally through Public and Private Partnerships
If it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a whole community to build a town. When the developer, the city, the lender, the local investor, and the community work together the result is a better performing, incrementally built town where locals are building wealth.
